Radiesse
New Collagen. Naturally Radiant Skin.
A doctor-led cannula treatment for gradual improvements in skin firmness and texture, with skin quality as the goal rather than added facial volume.

CaHA collagen biostimulation, delivered beneath the skin by cannula
Main Focus
Skin firmness, fine texture and a naturally refreshed appearance
Duration
Confirmed for your area and treatment plan
Course
Individualised course; published facial protocols include 2–3 sessions

What It Is
Radiesse by Merz Aesthetics is a calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) filler and collagen stimulator. For the skin-quality treatment offered here, it's hyperdiluted, spreading the product more broadly and reducing its immediate filling effect, so the focus is on gradual collagen support rather than added volume.
Main Use
The aim is gradual improvement in firmness, fine wrinkles and crepey texture on selected facial or neck areas. It is not intended for hollowing or significant structural volume loss, which may need a separate filler plan, and chest treatment follows its own protocol.
Main Benefits
Clinical studies support improvements in selected skin-quality and wrinkle measures. Smoother, firmer skin may look more radiant, though this is an aesthetic goal rather than a guaranteed study outcome, and results vary with the treated area and baseline skin.
How It Works
CaHA supports new collagen formation over time. Dr. D uses a blunt cannula through small entry points to distribute the diluted product beneath the skin. It remains an injection procedure, and cannulas reduce but do not eliminate the risk of bruising, nodules or vascular injury.
Who It Suits
Adults with realistic skin-quality and mild-laxity goals may be considered after examination. Skin thickness, prior fillers, medical history and the treatment area all guide selection, and it is not a substitute for surgery when excess skin or marked sagging is the main concern.
Treatment Duration
Timing depends on the area, preparation, anaesthesia and whether a device treatment is combined. Your doctor will confirm your appointment length before booking.
Sessions Needed
Published facial studies have used 2-3 sessions, with your doctor selecting the interval and reviewing your response. A separate 2026 US protocol for the chest uses 3 sessions 6 weeks apart, which is not a universal facial schedule.
Results Timeline
Collagen-related changes develop over weeks and months. Early fullness can reflect injected fluid and swelling rather than new collagen, so reviews and consistent photographs help track genuine progress.
Results Longevity
Duration varies by area, technique and individual response; a fixed lifespan cannot be promised for every facial protocol. Sun protection, suitable skincare and regular review help maintain results, and repeat treatment is considered only when needed.
Downtime
Mild swelling is expected to ease within roughly 6-24 hours as a clinic estimate, not a guarantee. Swelling, tenderness or bruising can last several days or longer, so allow recovery time before important events.
Side Effects
Redness, tenderness, swelling and bruising can occur. Less common problems include infection, persistent nodules and inflammation. Rare vascular blockage can cause tissue injury or visual loss, so severe pain, pale or mottled skin, or visual symptoms require urgent assessment.
Alone Or Combined
Radiesse can be used alone, or alongside a separately assessed firmness goal such as Ultherapy, Tightan HIFU or Sunny RF. Direct combination evidence is strongest for microfocused ultrasound performed first; exact pairings with other devices are less studied and timing needs doctor assessment.
Build collagen gradually for naturally refreshed skin. A planned course and ongoing care support skin quality; volume loss needs its own assessment.
Purposeful Combinations
Ultherapy (MFU-V)
For selected laxity. A small study favoured ultrasound first, then CaHA 6 weeks later; this is not a rule for everyone.
Tightan HIFU
For a separately assessed firming goal. Ultherapy findings do not prove the same benefit with Tightan, so timing is individualised.
Sunny RF
May complement a firmness plan. Direct evidence for this exact pairing is unconfirmed, so treatment depth and recovery are considered carefully.
Separate dermal filler plan
For diagnosed volume loss or contour needs; not an automatic add-on.
Skincare / sun protection
Ongoing daily care supports the overall plan. Skin response is reviewed before deciding whether more procedures are needed.
